Increase of personal mobility as well as the decision of the domestic airliner Air Iceland not to accept any passengers uncapable of boarding an aircraft by themselves resulted in a significant increase of air ambulance transports within Iceland last year and the number is still growing. Golden ages for Mýflug Air, an aircharter company in Myvatn, NE Iceland. The company registered a total of 493 flights in 2007. Mýflug Air signed a comtract with the ministry of health for this purpose, which lasts till at least 2011. For this particular purpose Mýflug Air equipped a Beechcraft Kingair B200 permanently as an air ambulance , with a second aircraft on standby. Till midjuly another increase of 11% of flights carried out has been registered.
